God’s call to play my part in the alleviation of suffering and bringing His hope to the vulnerable has led me to join GAiN UK, the humanitarian arm of Agapé UK, as their Disaster Relief and Preparedness Programme Manager.
My journey to this point reflects how He has prepared me for this next step. Having realised my passion for this area of ministry through a trip to Ethiopia in 2018, I went on to study International Development at university. However, it was my experiences on Lesvos, Greece and in Hatay, Turkiye where I learned the most.
Working with a partner of GAiN, Eurorelief, both in the refugee camp on Lesvos and in southern Turkiye following the dual earthquakes in 2023, the decision to follow this path was greatly affirmed.
Serving alongside a GAiN disaster assistance and response team in Turkiye opened the door to working with GAiN. After this experience, when back on Lesvos, there came a time when I stood back from my role with no plan about what I would do next. After two days of confusion and uncertainty about what was next, I received a call where I was asked if I would be interested in joining GAiN as a full time staff member. The timely manner in which this door opened left me with no doubt that GAiN UK is where God wants me to be for this next season.
