It’s been more than a year since the conflict in Ukraine started, we as GAiN (Global Aid Network) Worldwide continue to respond to support those in poverty and crisis due to this tragedy.
This Ukraine Crisis Appeal will fund the procurement, transport and distribution of physical aid to neighbouring countries where they have received refugees and to Ukraine itself. According to UNHCR, there has been 10 million border crossings from Ukraine and there are 6.2 million individual Ukrainian refugees in Europe. To put this in perspective, this number is around 4 times the population of Northern Ireland.
We will continue to work with our partners on the ground in Romania, Poland, Hungary and Moldova as they continue to receive refugees, and in Ukraine, as they help IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons). As our capacity increases, we look to expand our field of support.
Food continues to be the pressing need on the ground and we are planning to continue to send more transports of food in the weeks ahead.
To transport a pallet of donated food directly to Ukraine costs £650. Could you consider funding the cost of sending one or two pallets? Perhaps join together with a group from work or your faith community, or set up a crowdfunding site?
