Originally from Texas, the Vanns have made Europe their home for the last 40 years. After 10 years at the European headquarters in Germany Roger & Donna moved to the United Kingdom. Both are involved in a personal ministry of evangelism and discipleship – expressed largely through their local (Anglican) church. They live on the South Coast near Portsmouth.
In addition, Donna transitioned to ‘Staff Emeritus’ in 2017 and continues to write children’s books. For 25 years Roger worked throughout W Europe on behalf of the Jesus Film Project and Digital Strategies. Currently his focus is in the UK as field staff with Agapé UK. In the 90’s the Vanns ran marriage enrichment weekends throughout Europe. Roger continues this emphasis as part of the Family Life team – training event speakers and serving on the development team for a relationship app called Toucan. In his spare time he leads an ex-prisoner mentoring project on the South Coast.
Roger has been on the full-time staff of Agapé for 53 years and Donna, until her recent retirement, for 39 years. They have three grown, married children and six grandchildren. They have dual citizenship and no plans to leave their adopted country. But also no plans to change their softened Texas accents.
